[Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii).] A wheel for use with pneumatic or like tyres comprises a hub adapted directly to support the tyre. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the hub 3 is longitudinally fluted to receive detachable collars 4 provided with flanges 5. These flanges are formed with radial bosses or grooves to engage corresponding parts on the wheel tyre. The outer flange 5 is held on the hub by means of a locking piece 8 in two semicircular parts located in an annular groove 7 formed in the hub. A cap 9 fits over the locking piece and is secured in position by a nut 10. In the construction shown in Figs. 5 and 7, the extension 7 of the hub is formed with L-shaped slots adapted to be engaged by teeth 15 on a locking ring 8. Recesses on the flange 5 correspond to the teeth 15. The flange is placed on the hub when the tyre is in position, and is pressed inwardly while the ring 8 engages the slots by an inward movement followed by a slight rotative movement. Release of the flange causes the recesses therein to engage the teeth 15 whereby it is locked in place. In a modification, shown in Figs. 13, 15, and 16, the hub extension is grooved as shown at 7, Fig. 16, so that when the locking ring 8 provided with teeth 15 is pressed inwardly and slightly rotated the teeth 15 engage recesses 20. The ring 8 is also provided with teeth 21 for engagement with recesses 22 in the flange 5. In the construction shown in Figs. 17 and 18, the flange 23 is in two parts formed with lugs 24 for engagement in recesses in the hub 3. In a modification the flange 23 is in one piece with teeth engaging recesses in the hub of similar form to those shown at 20 in Fig. 16. Fig. 22 shows a construction in which the flange 5 is of sheet metal looped, as shown at 29, to give resilience, and held in place by a split locking ring 30. In a modification the locking ring is in two parts seated in an annular groove in the hub, being prevented from withdrawal by an annular housing formed on the outer end of the flange 5. Two detachable flanges 5 are shown in Fig. 26, the outer flange being formed with a portion 33 adapted to co-operate with a cone-shaped nut 34. In the modification shown in Fig. 28, the hub 3 is formed with a turned-in periphery 35 in which are secured screwed pins 36. The flange 5 is formed with ears 37 to engage with the pins and is held in place by nuts 38.
