Abstract

393,320. Changing-signs. PHILLIPS, A., Brookfield Avenue, Timperley, Altrincham, Cheshire. Sept. 24, 1931, No. 22032. [Class 3 (i).] In writing desks carrying a register and pivoted to be rotatable to a limited extent, transparent or translucent panels bearing advertisements are illuminated by transmitted light when pressure is applied to the desk in use, or when the desk is rotated. The Figure shows a form in which pressure on the desk 6 causes switch members 20, 21 to contact and light lamps 11 behind display panels 9. The desk is hinged at 12 and is normally counterweighted or spring-pressed to keep the contacts 20, 21 open. The desk is pivoted about a socket 14, and is restricted to a half revolution by limiting stops 16, 17.
