Abstract
393,208. Loom dobbies. GROSSENHAINER WEBSTUCHLUND MASCHINEN FABRIK AKT.-GES, Grossenhain, Saxony, Germany. Dec. 13, 1932, No. 35254. Convention date, Jan. 4. [Class 142 (i).] An automatic pick-finding device for looms with double-lift dobbies for controlling the shedding and the change-box motions is adapted to cause two reverse and one forward movement to the shaft carrying the two card cylinders or one reverse movement only by means adjusted by the draw-knife movement and co-operating with the hooks effecting the normal or reverse rotation of the card cylinder shaft. The pick-finding device is set in operation by the weft-stop motion, the loom being stopped when the open-shed position has been found. The lantern 29, Fig. 8, of the card cylinder is turned normally by an operating hook 32. Two additional hooks 33, 37 for reversing the cylinder are normally held clear of the lantern by a lever 49 controlled by the weftstop motion. When the lower knife 2 moves to the left after weft failure, the normal hook 32 is rendered inoperative, while the hooks 33, 37 are moved into the path of the cylinder which is turned back when it rises by the hook 33 and again when it descends by the hook 37. A cam causes the lever 49 to be turned to release the hooks 33, 37 and bring the ordinary hook 32 into action. The loom is then stopped. When the lower knife 2, Fig. 11, moves to the right after indication of weft failure and the consequent turning of the lever 49 into the position shown, the hook 37 is brought into action and disengages the ordinary hook 32, while a cam 9 carried by the lower knife engages a pin 35 on the hook 33 and keeps it out of action so that, as the cylinder rises it is not turned, while on its descent it is turned backwardly by the hook 37. A third auxiliary reversing hook controlled by a hand-lever and adapted to move the ordinary hook 32 out of engagement with the lantern is provided whereby the cylinder is fed backwards so that the picks can be removed in correct order.
