Abstract

392,308. Starting prime movers. ECLIPSE MACHINE CO., Elmira, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 18, 1932, No. 4862. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1931. Addition to 392,309. [Class 38 (iv).] In the electrical starting system for internalcombustion engines described in the parent Specification, a retaining device is provided for preventing the automatic reclosing of the starting motor circuit when the parts have cooled. As shown, one retaining device is in the form of a latch 54 which engages a notch 56 in the insulating member 48 when the latter has been moved to the right by the action of the bimetallic strip 47 when a predetermined rise of temperature takes place in the contact member 14 of the starting switch 16. The latch is carried by a bell-crank lever 59 connected by a link 62 to a pushbutton 63. When the control circuit has been opened by separation of the contacts 26, 27, due to the engagement between the member 48 and spring 29, it cannot be reclosed until the pushbutton 63 has been operated to release the latch.
