Abstract

Acid intermediate products obtained by the interaction of polyhydric alcohols and polybasic acids or the anhydrides thereof are neutralized with concentrated aqueous or gaseous ammonia and the polymerization completed. In an example an acid intermediate condensation product of adipic acid and glycerin is neutralized with concentrated aqueous ammonia or gaseous ammonia and polymerization then completed. Escaping ammonia during the polymerization process may be used for further neutralization. Specification 356,738 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 referred in general to the use of volatile bases for neutralization, but this reference does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 317,225.
