Abstract

389,811. Automatic regulation. ELECTRO-CONSTRUCTIONS SOC. ANON., Rue Schertz, Metzgerau, Strasbourg, Bas Rhin, France. Aug. 17, 1931, No. 23158. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1930. [Class 38 (iv).] Constant voltage is obtained from a source of varying A.C. by means of an automatic regulator which consists of a condenser C and choke I working at saturation connected in series and in parallel with the primary of a transformer T across the supply E the secondary of the transformer being connected in series opposition to the choke to balance out small variations of voltage in it. The constant voltage is obtained across the choke and secondary winding. The core section of the choke is reduced to cause early saturation. This restriction of section may be produced by building the core of laminations in which alternate ones have air gaps. To improve the power factor of the system the transformer T may be constructed to have a low inductive power factor at all loads.
