Convention date, Aug. 11, 1931, [Class 100 (ii).] In a machine for copying documents &c. by means of a mirror-copy original carried by a rotary cylinder 1 wherein the original is adapted to be replaced by a fresh original while the machine is running, the original being laid on a table whereby it may be presented to a clamp on the cylinder 1, and the clamp being opened and closed to receive the original during the rotation of the cylinder, the clamp opens in the direction of rotation of the cylinder, and the fresh original is presented thereto in a direction opposed to said rotation. As shown, the clamp comprises a pivoted member 2 to which is fixed a lever 3. When an original is to be replaced, a cam 4 is turned by a handwheel 7 into the position shown, whereby the member 2 is rocked to release the used original and subsequently engages a lever 12 connected to a table 5 which is rocked about a pivot 14 and raises the front edge of a fresh original 6 into position to be taken by the clamp. The lever 3 afterwards releases a catch 8 which retained the cam in operative position. A stationary front stop 15 is so situated that the front edge of the original 6 overhangs the end of the table 5.
