Abstract
389,258. Drain-holes for window frames ; door bodies. HURLEY, M. S., 83, Cropthorne Road, Shirley, Birmingham. Feb. 17, 1932, No. 4643. [Class 20 (iii).] Relates to channels for draining the water of condensation which collects on the bottom rails of windows and doors. According to the invention, the channels are vertical and are disposed between the stiles and the bottom rail of the window or door. In the form shown, the bottom rail b, Fig. 2, of a sliding sash is mortised into the stiles a, as seen in section in Fig. 3, and is provided with a groove e extending from stile to stile. At each end of the groove, the rail is formed with vertical, channels or grooves f which serve to convey any moisture collecting in the groove e to the lower ends of the window. In a modification, the grooves f are formed in the stiles. In a further modification, a groove f is provided at one side of the sash only. The surface of the grooves may be painted before the parts are assembled.
