Abstract

Fibroin (silk) dissolved in ammoniacal copper or like solution is spun into a coagulating bath consisting of an alkali salt or salts and an amount of acid insufficient to convert it entirely into acid salt. The bath may contain also other soluble salts such as magnesium sulphate or alum, and also grape sugar.
