Abstract

387,444. Ash-trays. BOWKER, J. U. and BOWKER, R., 3, Berkeley Avenue, Victoria Park, Manchester. Nov. 17, 1931, No. 31803. [Class 130.] An ash-receptacle 6 is fitted with an inverted frustum 2 having a central opening, a flat collar 14 mounted on the rim 18 of the receptacle, and a cone 1 centrally supported by a spring 3 in a floating manner so as to be set in vibration by a light touch and to shake off any tobacco ash &c. into the receptacle. The spring 3 is enclosed in a telescopic guide 11, 12 and the cone may be held in a fixed position, closing the entry to the container, by depressing a central rod 13 having a cross-bar 4 adapted to engage hooks 5 on the end 16 of the guide member 12. The end 16 is supported from the frustum 2 by arms 7. A spring 9 is interposed between the head 19 of the guide member 12 and a ball 15 on the rod 13.
