Abstract
340,880. Ash-trays &c. MONK, R. P., Moor House, Fillongley, near Coventry. Mar. 17, 1930, No. 8574. [Class 130.] In a receptacle for cigarette ends, ash, &c., an inlet passage 5 for admitting and extinguishing a lighted cigarette extends downwards through a side wall 3 and is closed at its inner end by a hinged flap 7. The flap is hung on a spindle 8 carrying an operating knob, and is biassed to the closed position by a spring on the spindle 8. A closure for the receptacle is formed by a removable ash-tray 14 provided with a handle 15, over which is placed a hinged or detachable wire grid 16 serving as a cigarette rest. The receptacle may have a flat side 2 with lugs 18 for attachment to the instrument board of a motor-car &c., or may be mounted on feet or a pedestal and provided with a number of inlets 5. The lower part of the receptacle may be hinged at 11 and secured by a catch 12.
