387,259. Compound metal plates. JULIEN, J. D., c/o Firth Derihon Stampings, Sheffield Road, Carbrook, Sheffield. Aug. 23, 1932, No. 23555. [Classes 20 (ii) and 87 (i).] A slab comprises an outer shell or casing 1 of stainless steel, or other untarnishable metal, and a lining 5 of less expensive metal, both shell and lining being formed from metal blanks superimposed and pressed or stamped up together. The two parts may be further secured together by spot-welding. Studs or projections 6 may be pressed into both parts. The outer shell may be formed with depending flanges 2 having inwardly keyed portions 3, the lining being correspondingly shaped to fit closely against the shell. The lining may carry additional tongues 9. In a modification, the lining comprises a substantially flat plate without flanges. In a further modification, the outer shell is larger than the lining and is bent round it at the edges.
