Abstract

<PICT:0387241/III/1> <PICT:0387241/III/2> In evaporators of the separate heater and evaporator type comprising two evaporating-chambers I, II, connected by a float valve g, the liquid fed from a holder R through a valve-controlled pipe v to a header k is heated while flowing through annular passages formed between outer tubes t<3> and inner steam tubes t<1>,t<2> of annular segmental cross section. The heated liquid passes to the evaporating chamber I and flows thence through the valve g into the second chamber II where it is further evaporated under reduced pressure by flowing over the outside of the tubes t<3>. A pipe P maintains the chambers R, I at the same pressure. The concentrated liquid is removed through pipes l, r. Further description is given of the method of mounting the tubes t<1>, t<2> in the tubes t<3>.
