Abstract

2191. Bleicken, B. March 19, 1913, [Convention date]. Void. [Published under Section 91 of the Act]. W a t e r, distilling; evaporators and condensers in structural combination; s p r a y evaporators; s e p a r a t e heater and evaporator apparatus. - In distilling water in a vacuum plant from which the unevaporated water 'is discharged through a barometric pipe terminating below a free water - level, as described in Specification 28,841/13, the water is heated separately and is then supplied to a non - heated vacuum evaporator. In a form of apparatus for use on board ship, Fig. 1, the water is heated by passage through the main engine condenser 1 and the auxiliary condenser 11 and then flows through a pipe 18 to the evaporator 20, into which it is sprayed by a nozzle 23. Unevaporated water escapes partly by a pipe 37 leading the water to the auxiliary condenser to be reheated, and partly bv a pipe 36 terminating below the sealevel. The steam is dried by passage over pipes 21 through which the hot feed-water passes to the nozzle 23, and then passes by pipes 25, 26 to a condenser 30 surrounding the evaporator 20. The condenser is evacuated by a pipe 33 leading to the main condenser 1, and the condensed water escapes by a barometric pipe 34. The condenser 30 may be dispensed with, in which ease the steam is led either to the main or auxiliary condenser.
