Abstract
386,766. Withdrawing coal gas from retorts. LOW TEMPERATURE CARBONISATION, Ltd., BRISTOW, W. A.,( and POSTLETHWAITE, J. P., 28, Grosvenor Place, London. Dec. 7, 1931, No. 33900. [Classes 55 (i) and 55 (ii).] A retort head b is formed with a flange h containing a sealing fluid or sand into which a cover b<1> dips, a gas outlet branch b<2> leading to a water-cooled pipe c which terminates in a tubular part c<2> dipping into a liquid seal e formed at the head of a down pipe d. Water from an inlet pipe j passes through a jacket f enclosing the pipe c, and through the water seal in the flange h to a waste pipe, or to the water seal e. Specification 277,079, [Class 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c.], is referred to.
