Abstract

385,993. Electromagnets. MANLOVE, ALLIOTT, & CO., Ltd., Bloomsgrove Works, and HODGES, J. M., 14, Worcester Gardens, Daybrook, both in Nottingham. July 6, 1931, No. 19418. [Class 35.] An electrically-operated valve comprises a valve member 3, the spindle 2 of which is attached to the core of a solenoid 1 through which a large momentary current is passed to open the valve, which is maintained open by a much smaller current. This is effected by a pair of interconnected switches 4, 8 which bridge respectively points 6, 7 and points 9, 10. The points 6, 7 are permanently connected by a resistance 11. The element 4, which is urged towards the open position by a spring 5, causes the element 8 to close when it is itself closed, the resistance 11 then being short-circuited. The resistance 11 is put in series with the solenoid 1 immediately the short-circuiting element 4 is released, but the element 8 remains closed until separately actuated.
