385,851. Air-heating stoves; burners. INTERNATIONAL CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., 56, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Lee, L. ; 2637, Koppers Building, Pittsburg, U.S.A.) May 30, 1932, No. 15323. Convention date, May 29, 1931. [Classes 75 (i) and 126.] In an air-heating furnace or stove wherein the heating gases and the air to be heated flow along opposite sides of a corrugated metal sheet 6 surrounding a combustion chamber 11, the gases flow upwardly from the combustion chamber and then downwardly around it. A baffle 4 directs the air in the direction of the arrows 5, Fig. 1, before it flows upwardly along the sheet 6 as shown by arrows 7, Fig. 3. The heating gases leave the furnace through openings 26 in the corrugated sheet, which openings are controlled by dampers 27 which exactly fit the corrugations, before passing to offtakes 29. The latter may be located directly beneath the furnace grate. The air circulation may be increased by a fan. The combustion chamber may be heated by a burner, Fig. 5 (not shown), of channel-shaped cross section having a metal base and a refractory upper part formed of inverted U-form sections having recesses in their meeting edges which form the jet orifices.
