384,933. Sound-film driving mechanism. WOODWARD, J., 5, Denmark Street, London. July 5, 1932, No. 1899,9. [Class 40 (ii).] The filni-driving mechanism of optical soundreproducing apparatus comprises a driven sprocket rotatable on a main shaft and driving, through resilient means, a flywheel fast on the main shaft, which shaft is geared to a sub-shaft carrying the film-driving sprocket, the subshaft being geared also to a centrifugal governor. A main shaft 1 is journalled in a pair of frames 2, 2 and carries a flywheel 4 splined thereon which is connected by springs 7 with a sleeve 6 loosely mounted on the shaft 1. The shaft 1 is driven from an associated kinematograph or other driving means through a sprocket 5 secured to the sleeve 6, and the drive is transmitted through gearing 10, 11 to a sub-shaft 8 which carries the film-driving sprocket 9. The sub-shaft 8 is furnished with a worm wheel 12 engaging a worm 13 on the spindle 14 of a centrifugal governor 15, the bearings 16 of the spindle 14 being bushed eccentrically to enable adjustment of the worm 13 to and from the worm wheel 12. A regulator 18 having an adjustable stop 17 is provided in conjunction with the governor 14.
