Abstract

384,864. Loom shuttles ; bobbins. SUMMA, H., Schwarzenbach-on-Saale; Germany. March 14, 1932, No. 7485. Convention date, March 12, 1931. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iii).] A weft bobbin is connected to the spindle of a weaving shuttle by means of a bayonet catch, the slots of the catch being formed in a special bushing R mounted ir the inside of the bobbin sheath. The bushing may be in the form of a slightly conical flanged member R, Fig 2, which is held ir place by paper strips P<1> glued to the conical part P<2> of the sheath and is provided with L-shaped grooves tc engage two or more pins on the spindle. In a modified construction the bushing R, Fig. 4, is formed with a barb-like exterior which prevents axial displacement after insertion and if desired the bushing may be further secured by providing longitudinal channels for the reception of adhesive. The internal bushing may be applied to existing bobbin sheaths by mounting the bushing on a liner E, Fig. 6, adapted to be secured to the sheath. Reference is made to the use of the sheath in spinning.
