Abstract
384,120. Rolling tubes. MANNESMANNRÍHREN-WERKE, 1B, Berger Ufer, D³sseldorf, Germany. Jan. 27, 1932, No. 2535. Convention date, May 4, 1931. [Class 83 (iv).] Skew-rolling.-Thick walled tubes have their walls thinned on a mandrel b which moves along with them, by rolls a, working through the slots of an encircling sleeve d, or the equivalent which determines the final tube diameter. The sleeve d is flared at each end and can be adjusted longitudinally hydraulically &c. The roll axes may be at an obtuse or acute angle to the axis of feed. The sleeve may be in two parts. The rolls, Fig. 2, may form a reducing cone followed by a narrow transition cone and then an expanding cone. Such tubes may be further machined in a "joint finishing lathe" o r i n a n expanding mill followed by a reducing mill.
