383,541. Pressure-relieving devices. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) April 15, 1932, No. 10865. Convention date, April 15, 1931. [Class 135.] An expansion chamber for use with liquid filled apparatus, such as oil - impregnated cables, or oil immersed transformers consists of a series of juxtaposed cells a, b having flexible separating portions c formed of non-metallic plastically or elastically yielding material. Alternate cells are in communication with the liquid and a gaseous medium and the movement of the partitions caused by the withdrawal of liquid on contraction is limited by rigid perforated walls. Leather, rubber or synthetic materials may be used for the partition. If rubber is used it is either of a type resistant to oil and heat or is coated with an oil-proof material. The material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Plexigum " may be used. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also modifications in which a single flexible partition protected by a perforated guard serves to separate the liquid from the gaseous medium. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
