Abstract
382,732. High-tension switches; automatic circuit-breakers. STATTER & CO., Ltd., J. G., STATTER, J. 'G., and MARSTON, G. S., 16, Great George Street, London. Oct. 14, 1931, No. 28579. [Class 38 (v).] An automatic circuit-breaker for an overhead line comprises a movable main contact 10 and arc horn 2 carried on an insulator 6, the support 7 of which in turn is carried with lost motion in a socket 8 pivoted at 16. An extension 17 of the socket is linked to a lever 19 pivoted in the trip mechanism case 20, and the switch is retained closed by a toggle 21, 22, which is held rigid by means of an extension 25 engaging a latch 24 pivoted at 23 to a member 33 on a shaft 32. A series or voltage solenoid 14 on an insulator 15 releases the switch by means of a trip lever 29 and after a time-lag due to a dashpot 28. Due to the lost-motion at 7, 8, the spring 9 is able to impart a blow to the movable contact to move it in the event of its being icebound. Reclosure is effected by means of a rod 31 and lever 30 mounted on the spindle 32 with lost motion, the rod being actuatable by a free handle, which may be electromagnetically locked against unauthorized use, or by a remotely-controlled solenoid. The rod 31 may also be used for manually opening the breaker by rotating the shaft 32 clockwise.
