Abstract

571,995. Automatic circuit-breakers. CANTIE SWITCHES, Ltd., and HELLER, B. Jan. 24, 1944, No. 1269. [Class 38 (v)] In a circuit-opening device comprising a fusible cut-out of high rating in series with a circuit-breaker of low rating adapted to be tripped by rupture of the fuse, the latter is, for purposes of easy replacement, mounted on a support above the circuit-breaker. A back panel 10, which may form part of a truck-type switchgear, has an insulator 13 carrying a bracket 15 which supports the fixed contact and explosion-pot 14 of a low oil-content type of switch, the movable contact rod 27 being slidable in a guide 28a in a bracket 16 mounted on an insulator 12. Contact 27 is linked at 30 to a lever 31 which is pivoted at 32 to bracket 16 and connected by insulating link 34 to the operating shaft 46 and trip mechanism 11, a throw-off spring 35 being connected to lever 31 in the bracket 16. The fuse 20 is mounted on the latter by means of aims 17, 18, the former carrying a lever 23 adapted to be operated by a striker-pin 22 when the fuse blows and, by means of a link 24, to rotate a rock-shaft 26, preferably common to all phases, and so actuate release mechanism 25. A push-button 47 resets the release mechanism and a handle on the shaft 46 recloses the breaker, Fig. 1 (not shown).
