Abstract

381,652. Luggage racks and table fittings for vehicles. RICHARDSON, C. R., Widmore, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Aug. 10, 1931, No. 22563. [Classes 103 (ii) and 108 (i).] A rack or table for motor &c. vehicle comprises a tray having extensible means composed of rigid members by which it is attached to the vehicle roof so that when the said means are extended the tray serves as a pendent table. The table or tray 1 is carried by extensible lazytong mechanism 2 from lugs 6 mounted on the inner surface of the vehicle roof and is adapted when in its collapsed or partially collapsed state to serve as a luggage rack. A spring-controlled latch 8 is provided adapted to co-operate with a pin 12 for automatically locking the device in its collapsed condition. The lugs 6 may be mounted so as to run on rails 3 to enable the device to be moved longitudinally of the vehicle at will. A recess may be provided in the roof into which the device is adapted to be collapsed.
