Abstract
381,633. Sizing paper pulp. PAPER MAKERS CHEMICAL CORPORATION, River Road, Kalamazoo, Michigan, U.S.A, July 24, 1931, No. 21203. Convention date, July 25, 1930. [Class 96.] To stock in the beater is added size as a powder consisting of rosin saponified with an alkali. In an example 100 lbs. of commerical rosin is cooked with 40 lbs. of water and 18 lbs. of soda ash or with caustic soda or potash, ammonium hydroxide, sodium silicate, potassium carbonate &c. The cooked product may be atomized in a current of hot air ; alum may be added as a fixative.
