Abstract

380,156. Fire-preventing shutters. MATHER & PLATT, Ltd. and TAYLOR, A., Park Works, Manchester. June 17, 1931, No. 17557. [Class 47 (ii).] A roller shutter is released and closed automatically in case of fire by a fusible link a which releases a bell-crank lever d supporting a pawl 11 which engages a ratchet 10 to maintain the tension of the supporting spring. A clutch i is engaged also by the breakdown of the link a and connects retarding mechanism with the shutter spindle by gearing 3, 4. The retarding device may be of the dashpot kind, as shown in Fig. 4. The shutter is raised by chain and chain wheel 5 and gearing.
