Abstract
218,553. Towne, T. G. Nov. 17, 1923. Winding-apparatus. - A watch is automatically rewound by the movement of the wearer oscillating a weight 7 resiliently held in the swing- ing carrier 5 and connected by the link and lever 10, 8 to the pawl 9. The ratchet wheel 2 is actuated by the pawl and winds the spring 23 through the train 17 - - 20. To prevent overwinding the pairs of pinions 15, 20 and 16, 21 are clutched by spring-pressed dogs such as 28 housed in the pinions 20, 21 and engaging ratchet grooves in the inner faces of the pinions 15, 16. The dogs yield when the spring is fully wound. When winding by the stem 35 the clutch 15, 20 frees the train 17 - - 19. A counterpawl 11 is provided for the ratchet 2.
