Abstract

379,926. Cutting fruit. RITTER, F., 3, Richard Wagner Strasse, Pasing, near Munich, Germany. Nov. 28, 1931, No. 32999. [Class 5 (i).] A device for dividing or cutting up fruits comprises a cup or the like 3 for holding the fruit, provided with radially arranged slots 2 and a cutter formed of correspondingly arranged radial blades 4 arranged within and connected with a sleeve or the like 8 displaceable parallel to the axis of the cup 3 and encircling the cup when cutting up the fruit. The cup 3, the inner face of which is substantially hemispherical, is formed from a cylindrical metal block, the slots 2 extending below the bottom of the inner wall. The base 6 of the cup 3 has an annular groove 7 for catching juice. The sleeve 8 is displaceable on guide-rods 9 secured to the base 6, the said rods passing through apertures in lugs 11 on the sleeve. The blades 4, which are unconnected centrally, are secured in recesses 13 in the sleeve 8 by means of a ring 14 and form an inverted cone. The central edges of the knives are bevelled on one or both sides. The device is constructed of non-rusting, acid-proof material. Stop means may be provided to limit the movement of the sleeve in the direction of the cup.
