Abstract
703,147. Slicing vegetables. KITCHEN-QUIP, Inc. Sept. 30, 1952, No. 24446/52. Class 5 (1) A rotated slicer or cutter 22 of hollow truncated cone shape is located to close the open bottom of a hopper 12 and is supported on a shaft 16 in an inclined bearing 15 integral with the hopper 12 which also has an integral depending stem 14. The slicer 22 is detachably connected to the hand rotated shaft 16 by slots 23 in the inner end of the cutter to receive inclined lugs 20 on a disc 18 on the shaft 16 whereby rotation inserts the lugs in the slots and reverse rotation withdraws the lugs. The hopper is provided with a hinged safety cover 28 which may be pushed down to press the material against the sharp edges 27 of slots through which the slices pass to the inside of the cutter which is inclined to discharge the slices. The stem 14 is hollow, and triangular so that it can be lifted off its clamp 38 or may receive the triangular uprights of support legs, Fig. 2 (not shown), resting on a table.
