Abstract
379,850. Safety razors. AVON, J. W. and MASSEY, J. D., 41, Tranmere Street, Drummoyne, New South Wales, Australia. Aug. 24, 1931, No. 23722. [Class 30.] In a razor of the Gillette type the blade 1 is carried in a memb e r comprising two semicylindrical parts 2, 3, the part 2 having two pairs of spring clips 4, 5, which engage the blade holes, and the p a r t 3 having snibs 6, 7, which engage the clips 4, 5 and hold the two parts of the carrier together. The parts 2, 3 are hinged together at one end by a pin 8 and at each end is a pintle 12 of rectangular cross section engaging a slot in a frame 14. A comb 15 and a handle 13 are slidable on the frame 14 the handle being rotatably connected to the comb 15. For shaving, the blade holder 2, 3 is clamped to the comb 15 by a bridge 18 screwed to the handle 13. To strop the blade the bridge 18 is detached, the frame 14 is moved upwardly on the handle 13 and a strop 20, Fig. 6, is passed between the blade holder 2, 3 and the comb 15 so that one side of both cutting edges can be stropped. The blade holder can be turned to strop the other side of the cutting edges by sliding it in the frame 14 so that the pintles 12 enter enlarged parts 21 of the slots in the frame.
