Abstract

379,659. Pipe joints. STAVELEY COAL & IRON CO., Ltd., Staveley, near Chesterfield, and FAWCETT, P. W.. Homestead, Hope, Derbyshire. May 26, 1932, No. 14995. [Class 99 (i).] A pipe joint comprises a gasket 14 surrounding a spigot 12, a ring 18 bearing on the gasket, a plurality of dogs 21 shaped to engage the ring and extend around the exterior of the socket 11, and wedges 27 driven between shoulders 22, 23 on the socket and the dogs. The shoulder 23 has two inclined faces so that the wedge may be driven from either side. The wedges may be driven between the dogs and the ring. The ring has a flange 19 so that the centres of pressure of the. dogs on the ring and socket are as near as possible radially. A shoulder 20 is provided to position the dogs. A recess 15 in the socket permits angular movement of the spigot.
