Abstract
378,787. Fountain pens. DEUTSCHAMERIKANISCHE-FUELLFEDER GES., 43, Hofmannstrasse, Munich, Germany. Feb. 3, 1932, No. 3232. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1931. [Class 146 (iii).] In a self-filling pen of the type in which a collapsable sac is compressed by a spring which is buckled by the action of a rotatable head, the rotatable member is a ring mounted on the outside of the barrel and connected with the spring by means of a projection on one part engaging an inclined groove or slot on the other. In the Figure, a spring e comprising the sac c lies on the inside of the barrel b and its upper end rests in a groove u in a plug which closes the upper end of the barrel. A rotatable ring e mounted between the barrel b and the head i has an inclined groove or slot m with which engages a pin n carried by the spring e. The cam slot may slope in either direction for use by right or left handed persons, or may be of a broad arrow shape so as to be operable by rotation of the ring in either direction. The slot may be protected by a second ring fitting between the milled flanges s of the ring l. In a further modification the pin n may be mounted on the ring and the guide groove may be carried by a broadened part of the spring e.
