Abstract
378,506. Cables. STANDARD TELE. PHONES & CABLES, Ltd. and SMITH, A .G., Connaught House, Aldwych, London. May 14, 1931, No. 14252. [Class 36.] A telephone cable, particularly a submarine cable, comprises pairs or quads or other groups, additional circuits being obtained by placing conductors in the spaces between the groups to form complete metallic circuit, each conductor being placed in a different space. In order to avoid interference between two distinct circuits formed by separated conductors when the lines joining the centres of the conductors of the same circuits rotate in the same direction along the cable with the same speed these centre lines are arranged to be perpendicular to each other. The Figure illustrates the construction. Between groups 1 .. 6 are arranged conductors a . . d forming closed circuits a, b ; c, d. A third circuit is formed of circuits a, b in parallel and circuits c, d in parallel. The centre line of the circuit a, b is perpendicular to the centre line of the circuit c, d.
