Abstract

377,340. Reamers; milling-cutters &c. HEIDE, H. C., 2, Broad Street Buildings, Liverpool Street, London.-(O.K. Tool Co., Inc. ; 233, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.) May 13, 1931, No. 14133. [Class 83 (iii).] An expansion reamer or like cutting tool comprises in combination a body member 10 provided with radially disposed peripheral slots 16 extending longitudinally of the member, the bottom walls 17 of the slots being inclined at an angle with respect to the axis of the holder, the slots having inserted in them the blades 15 which have similarly inclined bottoms ; the blades and walls of the sockets have interengaging serrations 18, 19 which are parallel to the bottom walls of the slots. The blades are adjusted axially by nuts 13, 14 carried by a threaded portion of the body member, such axial adjustment producing simultaneous radial adjustment. The body is provided with a number of slots 21 intermediate the blade slots, and clamp screws 20 are seated in threaded apertures in these slots, so as to secure the blades in their adjusted positions. The invention is stated to be applicable to tools having a single blade such as fly cutters and boring-bars.
