Abstract

376,816. Electric battery lamps. CARPMAEL, A., 24, Southampton Buildings, London.-(Ling Nam Hardware Manufacturing Co. ; North Point, Hong Kong.) April 14, 1931, No. 11051. [Class 39 (ii).] An electric torch is provided with a pushbutton switch 12 which bears upon a metal contact strip 14 and is adapted to be retained in an inoperative position by a metal strip 19 slidably mounted at the lower end of a metal housing 10, the strip 19 being provided with an aperture 20 which, in the normal position, is in register with a bared portion 21 of an insulated metal strip 16 mounted within the casing and allows the bent lower end of the strip 14 to be pushed into contact therewith. The inward movement of the strip 19 causes the aperture 20 to be moved out of register with the bared contact piece 21. The push button 12 is housed within a metal member 11 slidably mounted on the metal housing 10, which is riveted to the torch casing, a flange 13 being formed on the button 12 so that when the member 11 is slidden upwardly the flange bears on the underside of the housing 10 and forces the end of the contact strip 14 into contact with the contact piece 21, where it is retained until the member 11 is pushed downwardly again.
