Abstract

Yarn from which a package for use in knitting-machines is to be prepared is treated with conditioning oils during the winding of the package, and the package is impregnated with a water-soluble size to stick the coils together sufficiently for a tension to be applied to the yarn by the subsequent unwinding as it is being fed to the machine. The invention may be used in connection with cr<\>zepe yarn and for the production of full-fashioned hosiery.
