[Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] A hollow block 1 of the kind having longitudinal lips at its lower edges which abut with the lips of adjacent blocks to form moulds for concrete joists has its ends chamfered to the full depth of the block to form a transverse V-shaped space 4 into which the concrete enters and thus partly enters the blocks and keys them together. Transverse reinforcing rods 5 are provided.
