Abstract

Jan. 19, 1932, No. 1662. [Class 59.] In a roller-and-ring mill having one or more vertical grinding rings, the lower rollers d, which bear on the grinding ring are arranged on shafts rotating in stationary bearings and the upper roller d<11> is carried in movable bearings h which are forced upwardly by springs n. As shown, the lower grinding rollers dare mounted in fixed bearings a in the casing b and the upper roller d<11> is pressed against the grinding ring g by springs n acting on the ends of rods l which are attached to the bearings h of the roller d<11>. The casing is slotted to accommodate the movement of the roller d<11> and the slots are covered by spring-pressed plates q. Material is fed through the side of the casing and is discharged through an orifice p. The ring is cleaned by a wire-brush mounted on a bar projecting through the casing. The rollers are of different sizes and two or more grinding rings of varying size may be accommodated in the same casing.
