Convention date, Sept. 4, 1930. [Class 104 (iii).] Apparatus for automatically drawing in the pole rope when the trolley wheel leaves the power wire comprises the ordinary tension drum 1 on which the rope is wound, provided with a clutch member 7 adapted to be engaged by a clutch 9 on an auxiliary spring drum 14 normally out of engagement and held against rotation by a fixed toothed crown 11. When the trolley wheel leaves the wire, the upward pull on the rope 2 lifts an arm 15 and turns a shaft 16. A forked member 19 mounted on the shaft 16 and having a cam slot is thereby raised and moves the drum 14 through pins 20 on a sleeve 21 connected to the drum. The drum 14 being free from the teeth 11 is rotated by its spring 12 and through the clutch 9, 7 rotates the drum 1. When the trolley wheel is restored to the wire, the arm 15 falls and retracts the sleeve 21 and drum 14 into engagement with the teeth 11. The spring 12 is rewound by means of a crank 22 on the shaft 5. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the pivoted arm 15a lifts a roller 18a engaging a pivoted arm 19a. The arm is then pushed by a spring 24 to move a sleeve 21a on the auxiliary drum 13a and bring the latter into engagement with the drum 1a through the clutch. 9a, 7a The spring 12a is rewound by means of a chain on a sprocket wheel 23a on the drum 13a.
