Abstract

374,772. Directing vehicle headlamps. COLEBROOKE, A. D., 14, Grand Parade, Brighton. Nov. 24, 1931, No. 32565. [Class 75 (iii).] In a lamp bracket comprising two members 4, 5, one attached to the vehicle and the other carrying the headlamp and being rotatable about an axis inclined to the vertical, one of the members 5 is formed with an annular projection 19, contained in a cylindrical recess 18 in the other member 4, and is maintained in its normal position by a coiled torsion spring 21 inside the projection 19. The members 4, 5 abut with their adjacent faces in the inclined plane 10, and the axis of rotation is that of a bolt 11 which is threaded into the upper part. The spring 21 engages in a radial slot 22 in the projection 19, and in a slot 23 radiating from the recess 18. Rotation is produced by a wire pulling on a lug which depends from the upper part and normally abuts against a lug 26 on the lower part. When the headlamp fits on a forked bracket, the latter is formed with an adapter having a split socket which fits on the spigot 3.
