1 lamp bulb 14. This lamp bulb is secured of transparent or trunslucent material, with' the open end of the cup outermost Where the same is provided with a rim carrying a disk through which the pointed tip of the lamp bulb extends. ln the use of this device, it has been found that the reflection of the rim, as well as the shadow due to the circular disk produces a double ring efiect to which objections have been made by some users. The object of my present invention therefore is to overcome these objections,

and in doing so the lamp structure I now prefer to employ preferably comprises a reflector, a bracket or other support secured thereto, and a cup closed at one end. and adapted at its open end to be secured in the said bracket in such a position as to surround the lamp bulb in order that the re flected ring as well as the shadow ring to which reference has hereinbefore been made are obviated.

The head li ht comprising my present in vention will be hereinafter more particularly described in conjunction with the ac companying drawing in which Figure 1 is a central transverse section illustrating the invention. Fig. "2- is a front elevation of the bracket support and the cup member secured therein, and Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the same, Figs. 2 and 3 being made on a materially larger scale than the same parts as illustrated in Fig. 1.

Referring particularly to the drawing the head light made in accordance with this 'nvention preferably comprises a reflector which ma be suitably incase d in any form of housing. Associated with the reflector is an electric lamp socket 11 fitted with yielding terminals 12 adapted to bear a ainst the contacts in the base lug 13' of an e ectric Specification of Letters Patent;

in position in the socket in any customary manner known in the art.

I also employ a bracket or support 15 which is centrall provided with an opening 16 for the soc {ct 11 and at its periphery is provided with a rim 17 in which there are suitably spaced lugs 18. The bracket is provided furthermore with apertures 23 th rough which as well as through similar apertures in the reflector 10 rivets or bolts 24 are passed and secured in order to fix the bracket within the reflector.

I also employ a cup member 19 open at one end adjacent which on the outer surface there are spaced screw threads 20 adapted to. engage with the corresponding lugs 18 so that when the 0 en end of the cup is inserted in the rim 0 the bracket and turned apredetermined distance these screw threads engage the lugs 18 to secure the on inposition in the bracket. The main or ody portion of the cup 19 is of glass made translucent in any suitable manner, and the outer end of the cup is closed and preferably provided with a ca 21 made integral there with, the face 0 which cap may be made more transparent than the remaining portions of the cup. In order to yieldingly maintain the lamp bulb in position, I may employ a felt washer 22 surrounding the base plug of the lamp and lying between the bulb and the base of the bracket.

As will be apparent from the foregoing,

-the same objects are accomplished by the construction shown and described as those accomplished in the use oi the attachment shown and described in my co-pending application aforesaid, namely; the diffusion of the light as reflected from the lamp bulb with no direct vision of the filament of the lamp, and at the same time as hereinbefore stated the possible objectionable features of the reflection of the rim and the shadow from the disk are eliminated.

I claim as my invention:
