[Class 135.] Materials, special.- In a valve or cock in which the lining or sealing surfaces c, d are made of metal capable of being ground in, such as brass, while the remainder a, b of the valve or cock consists substantially of aluminium, the aluminium is cast, preferably by squirting, around or in the linings which contain apertures, corresponding to the flowpassage f, formed by bending parts c<1>, d<1> so that they lie flush with the internal surface of the passage f, rotation of the linings being thus prevented. In the case of a screw-down valve the aluminium bodv is cast around a hollow brass body which carries the seat from which the closure member is raised to open the valve. The apertures in the linings are plugged during the squirting operation.
