Abstract
373,106. Snap action switches. APPAREILLAGE GARDY SOC. ANON., La Jonction, Geneva, Switzerland. Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34150. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 38 (v).] In a rotary switch, the rotatable contactcarrying member carries a polygonal, e.g. a square-sectioned member 26 the sides of which are embraced by two jaws 27, 28 which are pressed towards each other by the two ends of an open spring 40, thereby determining the positions of the switch. The other ends of the jaws 27, 28 bear against opposite sides of a vertical support 35. The member 26 may, as shown, be U-shaped and the legs of the U may pass through a square hole in a cup 63 which rotates in a hole in a horizontallydisposed portion of the support 35. The legs of the U also guide the spindle 12 which is rotated by a handle (not shown). An additional quick-action may be given to the switch by a spring 19 mounted in two drums 20, 20a fixed respectively to the spindle 12 and the member 26. When the spindle 12 is rotated, the drum 20 moves with it and carries round one end of the spring 19, which is thereby strained. The other end of the spring 19 bears on the drum 20a and tries to rotate it and with it the member 26 and the contact member, but movement is prevented till the spring is sufficiently strained to force the member 26 round against the opposition of the spring-pressed jaws 27, 28.
