[Class 38 (v).] In switches in which a moving contact enters between and forms a conducting bridge between two fixed contacts, the latter are pressed towards each other by springs. In the form shown in Fig. 3, a rectilinearly-moving hand-operated plunger 3 carries a conducting ring 5 adapted to be inserted between two spring contacts 7 which are pressed towards each other by springs 10. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the rectilinear movement of the plunger 3 carries a spring member 17 over dead centres, thereby operating with a snap action a U-shaped contact member 13 pivoted on a post 12. The member 13 carries an insulating roller 14 through which passes a pin 15 constituting the contact, and the two ends of the pin 15 engage the fixed contacts 7 that are pressed towards each other by springs 10. In both these forms of switches, the rectilinear movement of the spindle rotates an indicating disc in the manner set forth in Specification 321,502, [Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.].
