Switches, quick-action, comprise a movable contact member 10 pivoted at 13 to the base and secured to an insulating member 11 which carries a member 12 in or upon which slides a pin 9 or other member carried by the operating lever 5, a dead-centre quick action spring 14 surrounding the member 12 and being arranged between the member 11 and the pin 9. In the form shown in Fig. 5, a ball 8a on the lever 5 engages a curved member 17 which slides between the arms of a U-shaped member 12a, and in the form shown in Fig. 9 a member 24 pivoted to the lever 5 slides over a axle 25. Contacts.-The contact member 10 may be punched out of one sheet, Fig. 6, and then bent into shape, the claws 18a gripping the insulating member 11, Fig. 5, and the extensions 20 forming pivotal axles which engage vertical grooves in the base 1. In the modification shown in Fig. 9, the extensions 20a are rounded and are disposed in a groove in the base. Handles.-The pivotal pin 6 for the operating lever 5 is fixed to the latter and engages in a washer 7, Fig. 4, inserted in the bridge 3, or the pin 6 may directly engage recesses in the bridge 3 or in bosses on the bridge.
