[Class 38 (v)] A tumbler switch has a unit movement comprising a stamped frame 39, Fig. 6, having side recesses formed with projections 40 constituting fulcra for the side arms 45 of a U-shaped rocker 43 operated through a dead-centre compression spring 56 by a pivoted lever or dolly 52. The movable contacts, Figs. 10, 11, are formed of a folded strip providing contact ends 47 and provided with a central slot 48 for mounting on the arms 45 of the rocker 43. When the movement is applied to the moulded base 20, Fig. 2, the frame 39 fits into a central recess 21 and the contact arms move in side recesses 22 so as to engage two or more fixed contacts 30 according to the type of switch required. Recesses 28 are provided which allow of one or more links such as 79 being connected between the end pairs of terminals. The movement is held in position by a cover (not shown) fixed by screws engaging screwed holes 25. The operating lever may be of the conventional dolly shape, and the contact arms may be provided with a central insulating plate carrying the slot 48 so as to insulate the contact arm from the rocker.
