372,899. Electric motors. ALLAN, J. E., 43, Waterpark Road, Prenton, Birkenhead, and MACLACHLAN, D. S., 42, Willoughby Road, Wallasey, Cheshire. March 30, 1931, No. 9528. [Class 35.] Cooling; coils; cores; insulation.-A motor with a wound rotor has aligned ducts C, C<1> in the rotor and commutator or slip-ring spiders A, d respectively which are of large cross section to enable deposits of dust or oil carried in by cooling air to be readily removed. The stator and rotor windings are kept out of contact with the cooling air by waterproof coverings which are preferably also oil proof and of an insulating character. In the form shown, air is circulated through the rotor ducts and around the stator windings m<1> by fans h, h<1> respectively. The end windings b<1>, b2 are enclosed by waterproof coverings b<3> and the commutator connections b<7> are surrounded by packing b<8> and covered by a waterproof layer L. The slots are also filled to the rotor periphery, and a waterproof covering W is wrapped round the laminae.
