Abstract

372,549. Holders for arc welding electrodes. QUASIARC CO., Ltd. and VILLIERS, A. E., 15, Grosvenor Gardens, London. April 29, 1931, No. 12627. [Class 39 (iii).] The holder comprises a stem 6 supplied with current by a flexible lead 2, and a screw on head-piece or cap with a transverse bore 14 for the electrode and a metal exterior 11 insulated from the stem against which the electrode is pressed when the cap is screwed home. The head-piece comprises inner and outer metal sleeves 9, 11 separated by insulation 10 and secured to an insulating flange 13. The outer end is closed by a plug 16 screwed into the sleeve 9 and forming an abutment for the electrode. It is covered by an insulating piece 17 covered in turn by a metal disc 18 over which is riveted the end of the tube 11. The transverse bore 19 in the sleeve 11 is greater than the bore in the sleeves 9, 10. To prevent the electrode making accidental contact with the sleeve 11 the transverse bore 19 in the latter, Fig. 3, is made greater than the bore 14 in the sleeves 9, 10.
