371,530. Markers for tennis courts and other surfaces. WILLIS, A. M., Sunnyhill House, Shirehampton, and BRECKNELL, WILLIS, & CO., Ltd., Jacob Street, St. Philip's, both in Bristol. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 6219. [Class 132 (ii).] A marker for tennis courts and other surfaces, Figs. 1 and 2, comprises a cast iron body 1, containing colouring matter, with agitator wheel 2 having side paddles 3 cast integral with the spokes of the wheel 2. The marker 4 is mounted in a clevis bracket 6 riveted to the body 1 and can be removed by removing a wing nut 8. A scraper 9 is mounted in bearings 10 in the clevis bracket 6, a lug 9<1> preventing tipping of the scraper. An inking roller 11 is guided by the bearings 10 the weight of the roller maintaining contact with the wheels. A metal pointer 13 is fixed centrally on the front of the body as a guide for direction and a metal cover 12 is provided. The usual long handle 14 is provided with an additional handle 14<1> above the centre of gravity of the machine to enable it to be carried easily without tipping. The contact surfaces of the wheels 2, 4, 11 are knurled as at 18 to ensure even spread of the marking solution. The machine may be made portable. In the modification shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the body portion is of aluminium and the inking roller 11 has its axle 11<1> resting in curved bearing slots 16 in the bracket 17 and can be lifted out of contact with the wheels 2 and 4 when the machine is not required for marking.
