Abstract
In the process for making the disulphuric acid ester of 2-aminoanthrahydroquinone or its salts by treating a 2-acylaminoathraquinone with pyridine-sulphur trioxide in the presence of a metal and a tertiary base, followed by hydrolysis to remove the acyl groups and, if desired, by conversion of the products into sodium or like salts, the treatment with pyridine-sulphur trioxide, metal and tertiary base is effected at a temperature of about 80 DEG C. for about three hours. An example is given, 2-acetylaminoanthraquinone being used as parent material. Specification 312,243, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to.
